Feedback from recent patch

We all know some of the new features in the patch are not well accepted by all players and Riot has been busy explaining themself in the forums for the past few days to those that wish to queue dodge and don't like the new EXP system. Some of these people are also concerned that Riot does not lisen to the feedback on the test realm (which had some of these issues in it) but hohums had something to say about that.

A: Still waiting for Riot to reply.
Yes we take many suggestions from the community here and from testrealm. Some suggestions are too risky to implement directly into a testrealm build. Its a build that we are primarily trying to balance and stabilize so only the smallest changes can be made.

The number 1 priority from testrealms is we try to fix all *regressions found in that build. We do miss some (we are trying to get better at finding these) and we are still working on tech so that we get more 5v5 matches in testrealm. Some of the bigger suggestions may go into our backlog and be prioritized according to everything else.

*regressions = Worked in the previous build but not anymore.

We also have 2 posts which focus on trying to explain the reason behind the new in game EXP system.

Well like I said in my title, Why did you guys change the system? What specific goal did you guys try to achieve with this change?

Any red named insight on this would be appreciated.
1) feeder effects were pretty strong on the XP side (not the gold side though), and were snowballing games too quickly. Our general feeling is that individual snowballing is fine, but team snowballing is un-fun. By discouraging team snowballing, we increase the length of time a game is fun. individual snowballing is still in fine with all the gold awards from kills, but team snowballing is a lot less now as I'm sure you've all seen.

2) XP had a lot of weird bumps and curves that didn't make sense and didn't pace the game in a way that we liked.

We will continue to adjust to preserve game times, etc.

Anyone can play a champion they are new with or that tends to depend on early kills to do well and become a 'feeder'. It just happens. That means that anyone who is rated high can in fact feed 1 in 20 games -- which happens to be about every other game you see for sake of argument ;p

Zileas also had a few words to say abuot people who try to artificialy increase there ELO by queue dodging.

And so what? I mean srsly? i don't care at all, because Elo is about the SKILL of the PLAYER right? so why does this matter? for your Elo system?

and? so? how is this cheating? the player skill, the average Elo is the same.

So you are saying I'm cheating because I'm not playing with the people who i will not be able to form a good team? I'm cheating because i rather try to play with a team which is able to work good together in this 5vs 5 dominated game? did i catch that?

so to not be a cheater i must play every game even if the hero composition is awe full because everybody in the game just knows how to play a carry? srsly dude?
the elo system does the best it can with the information it has. You shouldnt expect it to guarantee that every match you have will be ultra-close in reality. It's just not possible in this game type even if it could 'perfectly' measure everyone's skill, could measure exactly how well they would play at that moment, how much sleep they had had recently, etc... Because snowballing occurs, everyone has a bad game, and sometimes people play champion combinations that end up not going so well for them compared to their historical performance.

RE queue dodgign -- The problem is that if you want to hand filter every match you have to maximize your chance of winning by queue dodging, you inconvenience a ton of people doing it who then dont have fun. that's the primary reason we punish for it. The fact that it reduces the accuracy of the system is a secondary concern that is also relevant.

L0CUST's Champion Tier List

Bellow is L0CUST's post on his opinion of the current Champion Tiers with the current patch. He updated the list today so the information should be prety accurate with the current patch. Remember to also view his post that explains the meaning of this list.

L0CUST

I feel many of the champions are situational, and/or many of them are simply worse than others. Here we go! In a pre-made vs pre-made Match, this is how I would rank the Champions. They are Ranked by Tiers and Left to Right. If you want an explanation for a champion, just ask

Tier 1: Card Master, Sivir, Alistar, Fiddlesticks
Tier 2: Corki, Annie, Taric, Nidalee, Malphite, Anivia, Nasus
Tier 3: Morgana, Twitch, Amumu, Ashe, Blitzcrank, Tristana, Kayle, Shaco
Tier 4: Jax, Kassadin, Rammus, Ryze, Poppy, Zilean, Cho'Gath, Singed, Karthus
Tier 5: Pantheon, Dr. Mundo, Nunu, Mordekaiser, Master Yi, Gangplank

Fairly Worthless (need some love): Tryndamere, Sion, Udyr, Teemo, Warwick, Katarina, Janna, Soraka, Heimerdinger, Evelynn, Veigar, Gragas

*note1: the tiers are all relatively close, and become blurred depending on your/opponent's team makeup
*note2: I believe everyone should know my tier list is more correct than all the others
